I have a basic understanding of this, and i remember reading some things from one of BBBY's filings: I saw this post from u/FremtidigeMegleren :Īnd this comment from u/OnlyYoghurt8452 : Thisisalinethatdividesthepointsbecauseitriedholding-butthesymboldisappeared My point is this: >50% of the company is already owned by the investors. So if there is an M/A they want to see how many of us are in favour, and how many are not. Why?īecause outstanding shares typically have voting rights. Nobody knows anymore what's going on.īased on this, I think the company is trying to tell us that >50% of shares are owned by the investors and that M/A is coming to fruition very soon, and maybe the Reverse split stock is a blank. Most stock trading websites have problems with consistency when it comes to BBBY, as most of them show float 116m with outstanding 416m (yea, not 428m for some reason), whilst others show 416m float with 416m outstanding. Float, on the other hand, is the number of shares that are available for trading by the public. TL DR: Outstanding shares refer to the number of shares of a company's stock that are currently owned by all shareholders, including insiders. I am smooth and I do not know the law, thus I welcome every help I can get (it would be great if you can add to it, or if one of you knows the law and debunks this). I would like everyone to participate in this conversation.
